I have an odd question. for those zoners ho recently lost their sight, or who had it for years but are now blind. what do you do for fun? i mean, lets say you were going to a new city. what would you seek out to do? i know it may sound kind of retarted but. so, you had sight but now you dont, what do you do for fun? everyone is welcomed to answer. thanks in advance! ggizzmo
Well I was born blind, but I guess if I had been in a situation where I had site but then later I didnt, well, first, I think it would be hard. I think I couldn't help but be depressed, so I'd probably sleep. Then when I got over that, i'd eventually want to try and search for things I could do, being that I've had sight before, I would have a belief that as a blind person, i wouldn't be able to do much. Of course, i knwo that isn't true because I've been blind all my life, and that hasn't bothered me too much, but I am saying this as a sighted person might feel if he was to lose his sight later in life. I also thing it has a lot to do with the age you lose your sight at. If I was young, it would be hard, but eventually, i'd have to learn to adjust, which would mean I could go out into the community and find fun things to do. I think music would be a start, I do that anyway, but I dont think anything would keep me away from music! So maybe music related things, descriptive movies, and stuff like that. I'd find a way to do just about anything a sighted person would. Now, as an older person, I think that would be different. Most people who lose their sight at an older age really dont see a need to do things with their life. However, I also have something to contradict that! I have a friend who may be in his 50's, and he is gradually losing his sight, but he is so motivated to do different things with his life. Most of people I know resort to music, but it really depends on the person. But, where there is a will, there's a way! I was born blind, but I think it is much harder for someone who recently lost their sight to want to do anything.
as a blind person, been blind for nearly twenty years now, i write my diary of a four pawed community, do technical support, listen to books, and also work with and ride horses.
I do lots of things. If I was strolling down town Chicago on a Saturday afternoon, I would check out the stores and look at cool things to buy or probably just window shop, I can also go to Navy Pier, or I could also check out their museums. There's different types of museums out here. Well for now, thats what i know. There's probably more than three, but so far, this is what I know Fields Museum, Planetarium, and Shed Aquarium. The last one is all fishes and stuff under water. So, yeah. There's so much to do out here. If you want to do something fun, go rock climbing or watch a game or a concert. There's always something going on out here.
hm, well my vission's gotten a bit worse in the past few years, it has gone from where I could read large print and other random stuff where now I can't , play video games where now i'm not as good as I used to be. but I writt, draw, sculpt, read fanfiction, mostly harry potter, play the pokemon games, just cuz there are a lot more indepth than many people think with dealing with EVs, IVs, their nature, and yeah. I'm on here, I'm on a few online rpgs, and some other things

I think that being blind isn't difficult, it's just something one must get used to when it happens suddenly, or even over time for that matter.
I used to have sight, but that was about thirteen years ago. You'd think that as a little kid, one would freak out when things started looking funny, then one day one eye's gone, and a few months later, there goes the other.
but I wasn't. I was determined to find my way around, to explore this world that was then little known to me by my other senses. I collected many bruises, and fell down the stairs many times, but I never gave up. I was never down about it. Nothing really scared me. I remained determined and persistent.
But for fun, I'd do typical activities, I guess. Bowling, go-cart racing, rock-climbing; all those things are fun and enjoyable. Being blind doesn't hinder you from doing such things.
